The Chisinau Court has pledged full cooperation with law enforcement authorities after a lawyer and a court employee were detained on Monday in a criminal investigation into alleged influence trafficking.

In a statement, the court said it is assisting the competent authorities with the investigation and treats any suspicion of illegal conduct with the utmost seriousness.

“The Chisinau Court reaffirms its zero-tolerance policy toward corruption and any conduct that violates the principles of integrity, impartiality, and responsibility,” the statement said.

The court also stressed that the criminal investigation has not disrupted its operations and that hearings and other judicial procedures continue as scheduled.

According to the National Anticorruption Center (CNA), the case involves a lawyer and an employee of the Chisinau Court’s Central Office. Investigators allege that the lawyer paid the employee between €4,500 and €6,000 per case, claiming the employee could influence judges to secure favorable rulings for a business entity. The total amount involved is believed to exceed €10,000.

CNA officers and anti-corruption prosecutors carried out searches at the suspects’ homes, in their vehicles, and at an office, seizing documents and other items considered relevant to the investigation.

Both suspects have been placed in custody for 72 hours at the CNA detention facility while investigators continue to establish the full circumstances of the case and determine whether other individuals were involved.

Under Moldovan law, the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision.
