Cimislia City modernizes public transport with assistance from the EU, bringing EUROPE HOME

The city of Cimislia is modernizing its public transport network with the help of the European Union. Thanks to an EU investment of €77,000 and €18,000 from the City Hall. They purchased two new minibusses and built a public transport stop.

According to the EU Delegation to Moldova, this infrastructure is necessary for the mobility of all residents, including 78 refugees from Ukraine, including older people, children, and people with chronic diseases.

Cimislia is one of the beneficiary localities of the Primaries for Economic Growth (M4EG) initiative, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP in Moldova.

At the end of 2021, the European Union and the United Nations Development Program launched a new phase of the Mayors for Economic Growth (M4EG) initiative in the Republic of Moldova. The initiative seeks to stimulate green and equitable development in the Eastern Partnership region. Following the previous phase (2017-2020), the initiative introduces new tools and innovative practices to address current and future challenges of human settlements in the Eastern Partnership countries.

The M4EG tool builds on the Primaries for Economic Growth initiative, which the European Union launched and funded in 2017. Since 2021, UNDP has managed the M4EG tool in close cooperation with the EU, local authorities, and other partners.
