Continued Internal Reforms to Accelerate the Republic of Moldova’s EU Accession

Over the course of three decades of diplomatic relations, the Republic of Moldova and Italy have managed to build a close and strategic connection based on European values, stated Nicu Popescu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, during a joint session of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies in Rome. The Moldovan foreign minister reiterated the government’s commitment to continue internal reforms to expedite the Republic of Moldova’s accession process to the EU, discussing new opportunities for economic collaboration and the strengthening of business partnerships.

“Similarly, I mentioned that we face various types of hybrid attacks in an attempt to destabilize our country, and the best tool to counter propaganda and disinformation is progress. European integration, the path chosen by the Republic of Moldova, represents this progress. We also discussed new opportunities for economic collaboration and the consolidation of business partnerships,” stated Nicu Popescu.

He further emphasized that Italy is one of the Republic of Moldova’s most important trading partners, with our trade amounting to approximately 690 million euros.
