The new Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov, has been inaugurated. The ceremony took place today at the Presidency in the presence of President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The ceremony began with the singing of the Moldovan state anthem. President Maia Sandu wished the new minister success and outlined the main priorities in the field.
“Now that we have obtained a positive decision from the European Union Member States on the opening of accession negotiations, we are entering a decisive phase of the European integration process and, of course, all eyes will now be on what happens here at home. We have managed to build good relations with the EU states, and we have managed to gain their trust, but now we need to move decisively to bring Moldova’s laws into line with those of the EU. We have an ambitious plan, so there is a lot of work to be done, and we need the whole government and central and local public administration authorities to unite around a major effort to speed up the European integration. Cristina Gherasimov has experience in state institutions, and this experience will help us to organize the process efficiently so that we can move with rapid steps, reach the finishing line, and celebrate Moldova’s accession to the EU. It is an enormous responsibility, but I am confident that the Government team, led by the Prime Minister and with the tireless efforts of Cristina Gherasimov, will succeed in realizing these ambitious plans,” said the President.
