Crossing the Moldovan-Romanian border will be facilitated

The crossing of the state border “Leușeni – Albița” will be facilitated, and the waiting time at customs will be reduced by carrying out the joint Moldovan-Romanian control, based on the principle of “single stop”.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved, today, July 13, the initiation of negotiations on the draft Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Romania, on coordinated control at the road crossing the state border “Leuseni – Albita”, on the way to Romania.

The aim of the project is to develop cooperation relations between the structures with responsibilities at the borders of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, in the field of integrated border management. The joint work will also help to increase the institutional capacity of border authorities, as well as to harmonize control procedures to European Union standards.

At the same time, the Agreement will contribute to guaranteeing the security of the border between the Republic of Moldova and Romania, which is the external border of the European Union, as well as ensuring national security, economic well-being of both states, prevention and fight against organized cross-border crime and international terrorism.
