Daniel Voda: “Every honest vote in these elections proved that Moldovans have defeated a corrupt octopus”

Each honest vote in these elections has demonstrated that Moldovans overcame a corrupt system that attempted to manipulate the results, including those of the constitutional referendum. Despite these efforts, the attempt failed, as the voters’ majority supported amendments to the Constitution, which now enshrines European integration in the country’s Fundamental Law. Government spokesman Daniel Voda made this statement following a cabinet meeting.

“We thank Moldovans at home and abroad for voting in the elections and the constitutional referendum. Their votes reaffirm that we are a democracy where every vote truly counts.

We know that the majority said YES to our country’s European future. The European Union heard us, welcomed the referendum results, and acknowledged the choice made by the people of Moldova on 20 October,” Voda added.

He also expressed gratitude to the 240,548 Moldovans who voted at polling stations abroad, highlighting their active role in shaping Moldova’s future, regardless of where they live.

Voda then revealed the top five countries where most Moldovans voted: over 69,000 in Italy, over 30,000 in Germany, over 24,000 in Romania, and over 22,600 in both the United Kingdom and France.

“Each vote made history and proved again that we decide Moldova’s future, not others. It is our responsibility to make the right choice to protect our democracy. By defending our democracy, we secure our future and our right to build a prosperous society together,” Voda concluded.
