The situation in the eastern districts of the Republic of Moldova and the immediate priorities in the field of the country’s reintegration policies were the main topics discussed today by Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Moldova, Steven Fisher.
At the same time, the topic of fundamental human rights and freedoms in the Transnistrian region was reviewed.
Oleg Serebrian reaffirmed Chisinau’s strong position on this matter, thanking the British authorities for their consistent support of the fundamental human rights and freedom of expression in the Transnistrian region.
On Thursday, September 14th, Deputy Prime Minister Serebrian will have a discussion moderated by Ambassador Delphine Pronk within the Political and Security Committee, the body responsible for the European Union’s common foreign and security policy.
During the visit, the role of the European Union in the process of resolving the Transnistrian conflict, the congruence of European integration and Moldova’s reintegration issues, regional challenges, the impact of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, as well as EU assistance programs in the Security Zone and the eastern regions of the country will be discussed.
