Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration is on a working visit to Brussels: what’s on the agenda?

Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov spearheaded Moldova’s delegation during a pivotal session in Brussels. It was reported by the government’s communication department. The purpose of the gathering was to initiate the evaluation of national legislation against European Union standards.

This meeting fostered substantive discussions with officials from the European Commission, establishing a collaborative framework for the forthcoming negotiation process. Both parties reached a consensus on the timeline and procedural intricacies essential for assessing the alignment of Moldova’s legislation with the EU’s acquis.

Furthermore, Deputy PM Cristina Gherasimov held a meeting with Gert-Jan Koopman, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations. Their discourse delved into the progress update on meeting the three conditions outlined in the European Commission’s November 2023 report. Also, Deputy Prime Minister Gherasimov underscored the importance of advancing reforms within Moldova’s judicial system and the ongoing de-oligarchization efforts.


Additionally, the meeting participants explored avenues to leverage the expertise and assistance offered by the European Commission. This collaboration aims to bolster the capacities of Moldova’s Bureau for European Integration, the negotiating team, and national experts, ensuring robust support for Moldova’s European integration journey.
