Diaspora’s Role in Moldova’s European Path Highlighted at Meeting with President Sandu

President Maia Sandu held a dialogue today with representatives of the Moldovan diaspora, focusing on improving public policies that support return and reintegration in the Republic of Moldova.

More than 100 participants attended the event, including representatives of central and local public authorities, Moldovan ambassadors to countries with large diaspora communities, and members of the diaspora from various countries and professional fields.

Participants discussed reintegration policies, shared concrete experiences of returnees, and proposed solutions to make the return process easier and more effective. The talks covered access to public services, information and administrative support, social and economic integration, as well as the role of cultural events and civic initiatives organized by the diaspora.

President Maia Sandu stressed that the state must create clear, accessible, and friendly conditions for citizens who wish to return home. She underlined that constant dialogue with the diaspora is essential to adapt public policies to real needs.

The discussions also highlighted the role of the Moldovan diaspora in the country’s European path. The president noted that Moldovans abroad actively promote European values and help build a positive image of Moldova in their host countries, acting as an important bridge between Moldova and its international partners.

The Presidency of the Republic of Moldova organized the event in partnership with the Diaspora Relations Bureau, providing a platform for dialogue aimed at identifying practical solutions to encourage the return and reintegration of citizens.
