President Maia Sandu engaged in a constructive dialogue with the Executive Committee of the European Endowment for Democracy (EED), emphasizing the crucial role of civil society and independent media in fostering democracy.
The meeting, held in Chisinau, highlighted the EED’s decade-long commitment to supporting these vital sectors in partner countries of the European Union.
Acknowledging the significant impact of past projects, President Sandu commended the EED’s efforts and called for continued support for civil society and independent media. Emphasizing their pivotal role in the democratic consolidation of the country, she urged the Fund to persist in financing initiatives that strengthen civil society, foster transparent governance, and uphold democratic values. The collaborative efforts discussed during the meeting underscored the shared commitment to promoting democracy and human rights in the region.
