The 8th meeting of the Republic of Moldova-European Union Association Council begins in Brussels. Prime Minister Dorin Recean leads our country’s delegation, which includes several ministers, such as Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov and Chisinau’s diplomatic head, Mihai Popsoi.
The Prime Minister’s agenda for the visit will include meetings with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, the Vice-President of the European Commission, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, and the European Commissioner for the Economy, Paolo Gentiloni.
“The officials will discuss the development of relations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union in the light of the implementation of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, as well as the state of preparations for the opening of accession negotiations,” the cabinet of ministers said.

Moldovan and European officials will actively discuss topics: reforms, justice, freedom, security, foreign and security policy cooperation, economic and trade cooperation, and energy cooperation.
Officials will sign the Security and Defence Partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union and the Agreement on the participation of the Republic of Moldova in the employment and social innovation component of the European Social Fund. Through the documents, the authorities aim to facilitate our country’s access to funds for the social policies implementation.
