A drone briefly entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova near the village of Palanca this morning, amid massive Russian attacks on Ukraine, including the Odesa region. The aircraft flew approximately 500 meters into Moldovan territory before returning to Ukrainian airspace.
According to the Air Operations Service, the drone entered Moldova’s national airspace at 10:33 a.m. from the direction of Maiaky, Ukraine, crossing the state border near Palanca.
One minute later, at 10:34 a.m., the aircraft returned to Ukrainian airspace along the same route.
The unauthorized crossing of Moldovan airspace was confirmed by representatives of both Moldova’s Border Police and Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service.
Moldovan authorities, together with their partners, continue to monitor the country’s airspace to ensure the safety of citizens, the Ministry of Defense said.
