A drone exploded during the night of September 24 near the cannery in Camenka, in Moldova’s Transnistrian region. The information was confirmed to IPN by a police employee who requested anonymity.
Employees of the cannery said this morning that “a large number of militia officers” were present in the area where the explosion occurred.
On the morning of September 24, four unmanned aerial vehicles were reported to have flown over Moldovan airspace. An explosion occurred in Florești district and was subsequently located in a field. Local residents reported hearing loud noises.
Experts from the National Police’s Technical and Explosive Investigation Section preliminarily determined that the drone found in Florești district had features characteristic of the “Gerbera” type, which is used by the Russian Federation. According to the preliminary findings, this is the first time an aircraft of this type has been detected in Moldova. The drone was also equipped with an onboard camera.
