The electoral period for the election of the Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia begins today, September 3. The election is scheduled for November 15, 2026.
According to the electoral calendar approved for the organization and conduct of the vote, the electoral period covers all stages required to prepare and hold the election.
“The lower-level electoral bodies will be established and polling stations organized, while documents for the registration of candidates for the position of Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia will be received and reviewed. Electoral rolls will also be updated, voter information activities carried out, and electoral officials trained. The subsequent stages will focus on organizing the voting process and counting the election results,” the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) said.
Under the law, the electoral period will end once the election results are confirmed and the mandate of the Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia is validated.
The electoral campaign will officially begin on October 16, 2026.
On the same day as the Bashkan election, November 15, elections for the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia will also be held.
