Electronic voting could be tested in Moldovan local elections

E-voting could already be tested in the local elections in the fall of 2023. The announcement was made by the president of the Central Electoral Commission, Angela Caraman, during the “In esenta…” podcast on Radio Free Europe.

Caraman stated that the CEC has adopted a concept regarding electronic voting, an action plan has been developed and a specification is also being prepared, which will be publicly consulted. After the software is developed, testing, auditing, and piloting will follow.

Recently, the secretary of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Alexandru Berlinschii declared that in August we will know on which Sunday the elections will be held. They will be on October 29 or November 5, 2023.
