European Mobility Week is being observed from September 16 to 22, with Moldova’s National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) encouraging people to choose forms of transport that incorporate more physical activity into their daily routines.

According to the ANSP, the way people travel affects not only transportation, but also their level of physical activity, exposure to air pollution, road safety and, ultimately, their health and quality of life.

During the week, walking, cycling and public transport are being promoted. Initiatives such as “Active at School,” aimed at children and young people, and “Car-Free Commute,” which encourages people to incorporate physical activity into their daily routines, are also being supported.

The week will conclude on September 22 with World Car-Free Day, which promotes the idea of urban spaces that are more accessible to pedestrians and cyclists.

The ANSP emphasizes that active mobility can help reduce sedentary behavior and increase physical activity. It also says that access to transportation options for people of all ages is important for creating healthier communities.
