Moldova is free from its annual financial contributions for participation in European Union programs following a decision made by members of the Parliamentary Commission for Economy, budget, and Finances.
The commission reviewed a draft law concerning the ratification of a framework agreement between Moldova and the European Commission aimed at implementing the suspension of Moldova’s financial contributions to EU programs. This agreement is designed to relieve Moldova of its obligation to make annual financial contributions for participation in EU programs from 2021 to 2027.
Currently, Moldova has entered into various agreements with the EU, including those about Fiscalis, Customs, the Single Market Programme, EU4Health, LIFE, Horizon Europe, the Union Civil Protection Mechanism, and the Connecting Europe Facility.
The framework agreement between Moldova and the European Commission was officially signed on January 23, 2024. The document will now undergo parliamentary scrutiny for ratification.
