Ana Revenco, director of the Center for Strategic Communication and Combating Disinformation, stated at the Reinvent Moldova 2.0, organized by the Realitatea Media Group, that every generation in the Republic of Moldova has experienced systemic aggression—from Russification and deportations to the Transnistrian war and ongoing economic pressure.

“We are in a situation where absolutely every generation in Moldova has experienced, in a systematic way, acts of aggression—Russification, denationalization, famine, deportation, the Transnistrian war, ongoing economic blackmail… in every generation. These are concrete events that real people have lived through,” Revenco said.

She added that, despite historical trauma and continuous pressure, Moldovan society has preserved its values and ideals.

“And yet, our values and ideals have survived. Why? Because, in my opinion, those people did not build their identity around mourning, survival, suffering, or even around a savior. Instead, they built it around what they had to do every day, regardless of the trauma they felt—perhaps even more painfully than we feel it today,” she said.

The Reinvent Moldova 2.0 platform brought together experts and opinion leaders in a TED Talk–style format and created a space for dialogue and civic mobilization in support of the country’s European path.
