Exchange of experience with Balkan states regarding European accession

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has agreed to establish a mechanism for exchanging experience between Moldova and the Western Balkan states regarding efforts to join the EU. Minister Nicu Popescu discussed this with his Montenegrin counterpart, Filip Ivanović, during a meeting.

They also talked about Moldova’s progress in meeting the 9 recommendations positively assessed by the European Commission, leading to the recommendation to start accession negotiations.

Minister Popescu welcomed Montenegro’s foreign minister at the Annual Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Central European Initiative (CEI) held in ChiÈ™inău.

Discussions included the substantial progress of Moldova and the importance of a positive decision on launching accession negotiations with Moldova, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina at the December 2023 European Council meeting, seeking Croatia’s support.
