Maia Sandu: Our institutions could benefit from the good practices applied by the General Secretariat for European Affairs

Today, President Maia Sandu had a discussion with the Secretary-General for European Affairs, Emmanuel Puisais-Jauvin. The General Secretariat for European Affairs (SGAE) of France is a department within the Office of the Prime Minister of the French Republic, responsible for inter-ministerial coordination on European issues, as reported by TRIBUNA.

The head of state discussed the next steps in the Republic of Moldova’s accession process to the EU following the publication of the 2023 Enlargement Package by the European Commission on November 8. A period will follow where EU member states will debate the Commission’s conclusions and recommendations before the European Council meeting scheduled for December 14-15 in Brussels. France, as a EU member state, supports our European path, contributing significantly to the modernization of Moldova in key sectors such as energy, economy, and security.

The President emphasized that the structural reforms we are implementing help raise the standard of living in Moldova and strengthen public institutions. In this context, she noted that our institutions could benefit from the good practices applied by the General Secretariat for European Affairs.
