Exports of table grapes from Moldova to the European Union grew by 125% in eight months of 2024 compared to last year. The figures were presented today by Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization.
Moldova primarily exports grapes to Romania, Poland, Hungary, Latvia, and Croatia.
More precisely, last year, from January to August, 5875 tons of table grapes were exported to the EU, and then in the same period this year, the quantity of exported grapes reached 13,248 tons. In return for these exports, 337 million lei came into the country.

“This spectacular growth is primarily the result of the hard work and dedication of our producers, who have demonstrated that they can meet all the high demands of the European market. In a word – quality! At the same time, it is also a vote of confidence from the European Union. Table grapes are one of the seven agricultural products exported free of import duties to the European market. What’s more, they have exceeded the quotas by some 62%. It is just the beginning. We will get even more when we become a member of the European Union!” wrote Dumitru Alaiba.
According to statistics, more than 65% of Moldova’s exports go to the European Union, and more than 81% of foreign direct investments in the economy come from the EU. The European Union is thus the main investor in Moldova and the main market for Moldovan products.
