Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi held a series of meetings at the Munich Security Conference: what did the politicians discuss?

On the second day of the Munich Security Conference, Mihai Popsoi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, engaged in productive discussions with counterparts from Lithuania, Austria, Latvia, and Sweden, as reported by the MAE press service.

During his meeting with Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis, the focus was on enhancing bilateral relations and fostering cooperation within the Three Seas Initiative. Notably, Moldova’s recent inclusion as an associated country in the regional platform was discussed.

“We delved into Moldova’s European integration process and the strides made in our reform agenda. Gabrielius Landsbergis reaffirmed his commitment to supporting our country’s transformation and path towards closer ties with the European Union,” remarked Mihai Popsoi.

Popsoi further explored Moldovan-Austrian collaboration with the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria, Alexander Schallenberg.

“We mutually agreed to leverage our cooperation within the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. Additionally, my counterpart extended an invitation for me to participate in the forthcoming strategy meeting. I expressed gratitude for Austria’s longstanding support to Moldova,” he elaborated.

In discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, Krišjānis Kariņš, Popsoi explored avenues for organizing the Moldovan-Latvian Intergovernmental Commission meeting for economic, industrial, and technical-scientific cooperation, along with a prospective business forum.

With Swedish Minister Tobias Billström, Mihai Popsoi exchanged insights on bolstering the resilience of state institutions against external interference and hybrid attacks.

“I conveyed appreciation for Sweden’s development assistance to the Republic of Moldova, which directly benefits our citizens,” remarked Popsoi.
