Four new heliports will be built in the Republic of Moldova

Four helipads for medical helicopters will be built in the Republic of Moldova this year, two of which are in Chisinau. The money will be allocated from a cross-border project with Romania.

The four heliports will benefit all citizens who will need emergency medical interventions from the aeromedical crews, the press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Liliana Pușcașu, stated for Radio Moldova.

She stated that the heliports will be put into operation by the end of September 2023. Two of them will be built in Chisinau and one each in Balti and Cahul.

“The construction of the landing and take-off runways will be ensured with access roads. The first one will be built on Nicolae Testemițanu Street 29, in the municipality of Chisinau, near the “Timofei Moșneagă” Municipal Clinical Hospital. The second heliport is to be built on Poamei Street 28 in the capital, near the Mother and Child Institute. The third heliport is to be built in the municipality of Bălți, near the Bălți municipal hospital, and the fourth heliport will be built in the municipality of Cahul”, said Liliana Pușcașu.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the money for the construction of the four heliports is provided from the budget of the Romania-Republic of Moldova cross-border cooperation area project budget, a safer area for improving the operating infrastructure of the Mobile Emergency, Resuscitation and Release Service. In the state budget, approximately 5.8 million lei are provided for the construction of the four heliports.
