France has delivered the first batch of aid for the National Army of the Republic of Moldova

The Ministry of Defense reports that the first batch of assistance from the French Ministry of Armed Forces for the National Army has arrived in Chișinău. It was delivered by air using an aircraft from the French Air Force.

According to the source, the aid includes individual equipment, logistical goods, light infantry weapons, and ammunition.

This is the initial support from the French Republic in the context of strengthening the defense capabilities of the Republic of Moldova and modernizing the National Army.

“The equipment, intended for infantry troops, will ensure the compatibility of Moldovan soldiers with the armies of the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance during joint exercises and missions,” the statement mentions.

The assistance follows the support declarations made by French President Emmanuel Macron at the European Political Community Summit held on June 1 in the Republic of Moldova and as a result of the visit by French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu to Chișinău in September.

It’s worth noting that Moldova and France collaborate in defense based on the Agreement between the defense institutions of the two states signed in Paris on July 15, 1998. Recently, Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi and his French counterpart, Sébastien Lecornu, agreed on strengthening the partnership by signing a bilateral statement of intent.
