The Republic of Moldova received fantastic news from Helsinki as the Association of Sommeliers of Moldova, led by President Mihai Druță, achieved observer membership status in the esteemed International Sommelier Association (ASI) with an overwhelming 53 out of 55 pro votes.
The Moldovan Embassy in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Iceland expressed heartfelt congratulations on this momentous occasion. “We extend our sincere congratulations to the Republic of Moldova, our thriving wine industry, and the dedicated team at Mihai Druță’s Association. We are delighted to announce that our exquisite wines will be showcased during the working lunch, allowing participants of the ASI General Assembly to savor the excellence of Moldovan craftsmanship,” the embassy declared.
From July 3rd to 7th, the vibrant capital of Finland is hosting the ASI General Assembly, marking a historic milestone for Moldova as the Association of Sommeliers participates for the very first time.

The International Sommelier Summit gathers around 100 esteemed professionals and influential figures from diverse nations, offering a remarkable opportunity for Moldova to solidify its position as a key player in the global wine industry.
Established in 1969, the International Sommelier Association has a rich heritage and a primary mission to elevate the skill level of restaurant service professionals worldwide. Although its origins can be traced back to Reims, a city nestled in the Champagne region of France, the association has expanded its reach and now maintains headquarters across six continents, collaborating with over 60 national sommelier organizations globally.
