The Government Approves Modernization of Marculesti International Airport to Boost Regional Development and Air Connectivity

The Government of the Republic of Moldova approved a draft plan to modernize Marculesti International Airport, aiming to transform it into a fully operational hub for national and international passenger flights and cargo transport.

Under the plan, the government will transfer the airport’s management to the Chisinau International Airport Company to ensure more efficient coordination and attract larger investments in infrastructure development.

Government officials stated that the initiative aims to transform Marculesti into a modern and competitive aeronautical hub, strengthening Moldova’s integration into global air transport networks. Located approximately 150 km north of Chisinau, the airport already has an operational runway, providing a solid foundation for expansion.
