The Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, requested the help of the Minister of National Defense of Romania, Vasile Dîncu, to deal with “hybrid threats, from disinformation and propaganda to cyber-attacks and energy pressures”, as well as for equipping and modernizing the National Army. The requests were made by Grosu during the meeting that he had with the Romanian Minister of National Defense, who is on a working visit to Chisinau.
“It is our duty to reform and modernize the security and defense sector in line with new developments, and cooperation with Romania in this field will help us move faster. I thanked Mr. Dîncu for the support he offers to our army, including by organizing joint exercises with the participation of the Moldovan military who thus have the opportunity to become better”, announced Grosu.
The two officials also spoke about the security challenges facing the Republic of Moldova and the entire region, as a result of Russian aggression towards Ukraine.
“I mentioned that we are closely following what is happening in our vicinity and reiterated that the latest decisions of the Russian Federation regarding the referendums are illegal. The Russian Federation must respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and the rest of the countries,” Grosu’s announcement also states.
