The PAS President, Igor Grosu, congratulated Chisinau, Briceni, Rezina, Floresti, Vulcanesti, Varnita, and all the villages and towns celebrating their patron saint today. He also urged Moldovans to take an active role in improving their communities.
Grosu said, “Our communities have slowly begun to change, but we still have much work to do before they become truly European. On this day, let’s reflect and think about how each of us can make our cities and villages well-maintained places where people want to live! Happy birthday!”
This tradition began in 1995, when authorities celebrated the holiday on the second Sunday of October. In 2000, they officially established October 14 as City Day, coinciding with the religious holiday of the Protection of the Mother of God.
