High-Stakes Diplomacy: Moldovan Ambassador Summoned to Russian Foreign Ministry for ”Bilateral Talks”

The Moldovan Ambassador to Moscow, Lilian Darii, was summoned on Monday to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as announced by Russian diplomacy. “The Ambassador was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” stated the ministry, according to TASS news agency.

“We discussed bilateral relations,” said Darii.

The diplomat was present at the Russian Foreign Ministry building for approximately 20 minutes.

It should be noted that on June 22, the head of the Russian administration in the occupied territory of the Herson region, Vladimir Solido, threatened that Russia could target the bridge at Giurgiulești with missiles.

Subsequently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration urgently summoned the head of the diplomatic mission of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova for explanations.

Recall that on April 25, Lilian Darii was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where a protest note was handed to him regarding the “unfriendly actions of Chisinau.” Similarly, an employee of the Moldovan Embassy was declared persona non grata, stated the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At that time, Moscow blocked the entry of several Moldovan officials in response to periodic anti-Russian statements.
