As from April 1st, citizens of the Republic of Moldova will face another price increase for electric power. The National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) will increase the rate up to 2.17 lei/kWh from the actual 1.51 lei/kWh, after Octavian Calmîc, one of the directors of ANRE, requested a price rise.
Calmîc stated during the ANRE meeting that the new energy fares should have been entered into force earlier, however due to the present emergency state in the country and to the decision of the Commision for Exceptional Situations, the price soar will be postponed till the beginning of the next month.
„We do not have any deviations. All the arguments, calculations, claims and financial variations that were or will be accumulated by operators were taken into account,” said Octavian Calmîc.
In the northern region of the country the new electricity power rates would vary from 2.04 to 2.51 lei/kWh.
Electricity prices have been adjusted one more time since the beginning of this year. At the end of January, electricity fare was decreased for consumers by 10.1% to 1.51 lei/kWh.
