The number of displaced persons from Ukraine benefiting from temporary protection status in the municipality of Chisinau is increasing, informs Chisinau City Hall.
Thus, since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, 20,380 Ukrainian citizens have obtained temporary protection status in the municipality of Chisinau. In the last week alone, the number of beneficiaries in Chisinau has increased by 516 people. In total, there are 38,172 Ukrainian citizens with temporary protection status in Moldova.
According to the quoted source, temporary protection status gives Ukrainian citizens the following rights:
- To stay on the territory of the Republic of Moldova for the period of temporary protection granted;
- to work;
- to have access to accommodation in temporary accommodation centres for persons in need;
- to benefit from primary and emergency health care;
- access to general education for minors;
- to benefit from social assistance measures.

Temporary protection status also obliges Ukrainian citizens:
- to respect the laws of the Republic of Moldova without violating the rights and freedoms of others;
- to inform the General Inspectorate for Migration (IGM) in case of voluntary return to Ukraine or obtaining a form of protection in another country;
- inform the IGM within ten days of any change in the legal status, marital status, change of residence in the Republic of Moldova, loss or damage of the document of the beneficiary of temporary protection.
