“I want us to be a whole Moldova without borders.” A resident of the left bank of the Dniester tells what she voted for

“I want us to be a united Moldova without borders,” shared a resident of Tighina on the left bank of the Dniester, explaining her reasons for voting in the presidential election. “We’ve been through a lot. We hope for a united Moldova and peace,” she told journalists from “Security Zone.”

The woman expressed frustration with the region’s exposure to Russian propaganda, which continues to shape local perspectives. “Over 30 years, a generation has grown up that only knows Transnistria and wasn’t supposed to. They told me I’d never make it home—that I should keep quiet.”

She spoke of the challenges locals face when traveling within Moldova. “To reach Varnitsa or Chisinau, we have to go through seven checkpoints. That’s why I dream of a Moldova without borders,” she added.
