Igor Grosu, Speaker of Parliament and leader of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), addressed the no-confidence motion initiated by the Party of Socialists in a statement shared on social media on Friday, November 29. Grosu criticized the opposition, accusing them of collaborating with “Kremlin friends” to destabilize the country.
“The Parliament, together with the government, will ensure that we get through this winter, despite the opposition and their ‘friends from the Kremlin’ trying to spread panic and undermine state institutions,” Grosu wrote.
He accused the opposition of exploiting seasonal challenges, stating, “Every year, as winter approaches, Moldovans are threatened with freezing by the Kremlin’s ‘friends’ within this opposition.”

The Socialist Party’s motion cites “the crisis in the energy sector and the government’s inability to take effective measures to protect citizens and the national economy” as grounds for dismissing the government. They also advocate for holding early parliamentary elections.
A no-confidence motion signifies the withdrawal of parliamentary confidence in the government. The law requires at least one-quarter of elected MPs to initiate the motion, and it passes with a majority vote of the MPs present.
