Igor Grosu stated that the Republic of Moldova takes its EU accession commitments seriously and has demonstrated this by becoming a leader in implementing reform measures.

He made the statement during a meeting in Chisinau with Günter Krichbaum, who visited the capital on the occasion of the 135th session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

The officials discussed bilateral cooperation and Germany’s support for Moldova’s European path. Igor Grosu emphasized that Moldova relies on Germany’s backing in its EU accession process.

“Germany’s support is very important for our EU accession process,” the Parliament Speaker said, thanking the German side for its consistent assistance in political, economic, institutional, and security areas.

The Republic of Moldova established diplomatic relations with the Federal Republic of Germany in 1992. Today, the two countries maintain 86 bilateral treaties in force, covering financial and technical cooperation, social security, investment protection and development, and other areas of mutual interest.
