Speaker of the Parliament Igor Grosu held yesterday a meeting with President of the Romanian Senate Nicolae-Ionel Chuca, who is on a visit to Chisinau, according to the public relations department of the Legislative Assembly.
The speaker thanked his Romanian counterpart for the attention and support given to the Republic of Moldova.
“Relations between our countries have good dynamics, which can be seen from the joint projects for citizens on both banks of the Prut,” Grosu said.
During the discussions, the officials touched upon topics related to the agenda of the Moldovan Parliament and the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission. Igor Grosu stressed that the Chisinau authorities are determined to start negotiations with the EU before the end of the year and count on the support of Romanian diplomacy, which plays a decisive role in our country’s European aspirations.
The officials also discussed ways to intensify economic cooperation, energy unification, and accelerate infrastructure projects between Moldova and Romania.
“It will soon be a year since we became an EU candidate country and throughout this year Romania has been by our side, guiding us and taking concrete actions that help us move forward in this process. Moldova is determined to become part of the European family together with Romania,” said the President of the Parliament.
Also yesterday, Igor Grosu met with Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Colacu, whom he wished success in his new post. The Speaker of the Parliament expressed the readiness of the Republic of Moldova to develop economic relations and infrastructure projects with Romania.
“This year, we are taking decisive steps to start negotiations with the EU, and we need all the knowledge and support of Romania,” said the head of the Legislative Assembly of Moldova.
