Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu will take part in the fourth edition of the Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform. The Swedish Riksdag will host the event on Monday, November 24. In his address, the Speaker will focus on the consequences of the war in Ukraine, including its impact on the Republic of Moldova.
Organizers aim to highlight the consequences of Russia’s annexation of Crimea. Participants will also discuss sanctions, human rights, security, and the economic and environmental effects of the occupation.
The Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag, Andreas Norlén, and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, will deliver speeches. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will address the participants via video message.
While in Stockholm, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu will also meet his counterparts from Bulgaria, Croatia, and Lithuania. The head of the legislature will meet Moldovans living in the Kingdom of Sweden as well.
Ukraine launched the Crimea Platform at the governmental level in Kyiv in 2021 at the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The platform serves as an international forum for consultation and coordination at various levels — governments, foreign ministers, parliaments, interparliamentary assemblies, civil society, and expert communities. Its goal is to end the occupation of Crimea and ensure its peaceful return to Ukraine.
The summit will bring together speakers of national parliaments and leaders of interparliamentary organizations. The Moldovan parliamentary delegation also includes Ana Calinici, Vice Chair of the Committee on European Integration.
