In Chisinau, there was an attempted arson attack on the Russian Embassy: Russian reaction

“We strongly condemn the attempt to set fire to the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau. We expect fair and severe punishment for the ‘flamethrower'”. This is how the Russian ambassador in Chisinau reacted to the incident that took place on March 17 outside the embassy building.

“We thank the citizens for their civic position and conscientiousness. Despite any provocations, the voting at the polling station continues in a normal mode. We note the high activity and a lot of people willing to participate,” Russian Ambassador Oleg Vasnetsov wrote.

On March 17, a 54-year-old Moldovan citizen tried to set fire to the polling station of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau. According to police, the offender was immediately detained. The man threw two containers with flammable substances over the fence of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau.

“He was immediately detained and identified, the man is currently in the police inspectorate for questioning and paperwork.

The 54-year-old man is a citizen of Moldova but claims that he is also a citizen of the Russian Federation, this fact is yet to be established by law enforcement officers.

The man justified his act by saying that he was dissatisfied with the actions of the Russian authorities,” the law enforcers said in a statement.

March 17 is the last day of the presidential election in Russia.
