Ion Chicu submits the signature lists to the CEC to run for president. He has collected over 27,000 signatures

Ion Chicu announces that his initiative group has gathered over 27,000 signatures. The politician has submitted the documents to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to register as a candidate in the presidential elections.

“We have 27,367 signatures, over 27,000 of your hopes. I want to thank you for the trust you have in me,” stated the leader of the Party of Consolidation and Development of Moldova (PDCM) in front of the CEC.

Under current legislation, the Commission members have seven days to review the documents and either register or reject the registration of the potential presidential candidate for the elections on October 20, 2024. The CEC representatives are still processing the files of Renato Usati and Vasile Tarlev, submitted last week.

The CEC has already registered Alexandr Stoianoglo and Maia Sandu as electoral candidates.

It is worth noting that the CEC has registered thirteen initiative groups supporting potential candidates for the presidential election. The remaining eight teams have until September 20, 2024, to collect 15,000 – 25,000 signatures and submit their candidate registration documents to the Central Election Commission.
