The Republican Party of Moldova’s Heart, led by Irina Vlah, will not be allowed to participate in the upcoming local elections on November 16. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved the decision after restricting the party’s activity for 12 months.
“During the activity restriction, it is forbidden to participate – individually or jointly – in elections and referendums. The decision was based on the ruling of the Central Court of Appeal on September 25 and on position no. 6 from the annex to the CEC decision regarding the list of parties eligible to participate in the new local elections,” explained CEC vice-president Pavel Postica.
The Court of Appeal may hear an appeal of the ruling.
