The unrecognized leader of Tiraspol, Vadim Krasnoselski, met with a delegation from the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Moldova, led by Chargé d’Affaires Nick Pietrowicz.

During the meeting, Krasnoselski reaffirmed the region’s commitment to stability and maintaining peace, emphasizing that all conflicts must be resolved through dialogue and negotiation. Nick Pietrowicz expressed support for preserving peace and stability in the area, according to local media reports.

The discussions also touched on the potential resumption of the “5+2” negotiation format, which includes the United States and the European Union as observers. Krasnoselski claimed that Chisinau interrupted the dialogue in this format.

Official negotiations in the 5+2 format have been suspended since October 2019. The last round, held in Bratislava, ended without the signing of a joint protocol. The format was later formally suspended following the outbreak of Russia’s war against Ukraine — a decision confirmed by Chisinau authorities, including Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian, in July 2023.
