President Maia Sandu has urged members of Parliament to back Moldova’s European integration and support efforts to align national legislation with EU standards. Speaking at the inauguration of the new legislature, she also warned about foreign interference in the electoral process.

The head of state stressed the importance of maintaining peace in the region, noting that as long as Moldova upholds its values and traditions, it must also stand in solidarity with Ukraine.

“I urge the parties in the new Parliament to support, with loyalty and good faith, the process of European integration for the Republic of Moldova. Such a commitment would also demonstrate your dedication to the profound modernization of our state,” Sandu said.

She acknowledged that the road ahead will not be easy.

“The war at our border continues to undermine investor confidence and generate uncertainty. But beyond these external challenges, we also face internal obstacles that must be addressed with realism and determination — the low level of labor productivity, lack of innovation and competitiveness in certain sectors, and the need to strengthen the link between education and the labor market,” the president emphasized.

Sandu highlighted the importance of inclusion for citizens on the left bank of the Dniester, saying they must have access to the labor market, freedom of movement, and equal protection under the law. She reiterated that resolving the Transnistrian conflict must remain peaceful and include the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the region.

The president also addressed climate challenges, agricultural reform, and the fight against electoral corruption, expressing gratitude to citizens for their participation and trust in the recent elections.
