Moldovan President Maia Sandu has condemned Russia’s repeated violations of Romanian airspace after another Russian drone was shot down over Romanian territory.
Sandu said such incidents constitute violations of the airspace of a NATO and European Union member state and praised the professionalism and courage of the Romanian Air Force.
“Another Russian drone was shot down over Romania today. We condemn Russia’s systematic violations of Romanian airspace – the airspace of NATO and the European Union. We commend the skills and courage of the Romanian Air Force,” Maia Sandu said.
The Moldovan president stressed that the security of the two neighboring countries is closely interconnected.
“Romania’s security is Moldova’s security. We stand with Romania,” she added.
Earlier, Romanian President Nicusor Dan announced on X that another drone had been shot down in the Sulina-Chilia area. The incident occurred less than 48 hours after another drone was intercepted over Buzau County and the Danube Delta.
