During discussions with President Berset and members of the Federal Council, the head of state also addressed economic cooperation. Moldova signed a free trade agreement – EFTA – with Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway earlier this summer. After its ratification by the Swiss legislature, companies from both countries will benefit from increased opportunities. Additionally, cooperation in the fields of social security and tourism was formally established on this day. President Maia Sandu emphasized that Swiss partners support us in our fight against corruption so that those who have stolen from the country can be brought to justice.

“On behalf of all Moldovan citizens, I expressed my gratitude to President Berset, the members of the Federal Council, and all Swiss citizens for their unwavering support and continuous solidarity with Switzerland,” concluded the head of state.
