MFAEI: “The attack on the port infrastructure of the Danube creates risks for grain exports from Ukraine”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova (MFAEI) condemned the attack on the port infrastructure of the Danube. The department commented on the shelling of the Odessa region.

“Moldova condemns the Russian attack on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure along the Danube near the Romanian border. This attack creates significant risks for grain exports from Ukraine and for food security at the regional and global levels,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Earlier, the Ukrainian operational command “South” reported that on the night of July 24, the Russian military launched another strike on the Odesa region. According to Ukraine, the target of the attack was the port infrastructure of the Danube. As a result of the strikes, a hangar with grain was destroyed, and tanks for storing other cargo were damaged. A fire broke out in one of the production facilities.

Romanian media reported that after the night shelling of the Odessa region, an explosion occurred in the port of Reni. It is located on the left bank of the Danube, 200 meters from the border with Romania.
