Minister of Education: National Institute for Education and Leadership to be inaugurated in Moldova

The National Institute for Education and Leadership will be launched on 25 February with the presentation of the concept of mentoring for the educational community in Moldova. The announcement was made by Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun at a press conference.

“From our point of view, the creation of this network of 1000 mentors will help us to disseminate, first of all, good practices in the system, to reform the system of continuous education training, and to provide better support for young specialists who choose this teaching profession,” said Dan Perciun.

By April about 40 national trainers will be selected from the ranks of mentors, and by September the Ministry aims to have 1000 mentors selected on a competitive basis and trained.

According to the minister, the institution’s core responsibilities include ongoing training for teachers across the education system and managing a network of a thousand mentors. According to IPN, these people will work in educational institutions and will help the ministry in addressing the various problems that exist in the system, disseminating best practices, guiding their colleagues, helping them to become better in different dimensions, and also playing an important role in supporting young specialists.

In 2024, the Institute has an approved budget of nine million lei. In addition, the entire network of mentors will be funded for the first 9 months through a European Union project managed by UNICEF.
