The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, goes on a working visit to Brussels. The official is going to promote our country project – to obtain the status of candidate country for the European Union.
“In our path of democratic reforms and transformations, we need all the effective, firm and solidary support of the EU institutions and member states for our prospect of accession,” Popescu said.
The irreversible course of our country towards the European Union means alignment for the benefit of citizens and in various sectoral areas, such as: energy, transport, environment, agriculture, deepening defense cooperation, security to strengthen our resilience.
During the meetings with senior European officials in Brussels, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu will reiterate that Moldova is a country with a European history and identity. We speak one of the official languages of the European Union, Romanian, our citizens proving their attachment to European values.

Please note that on April 22, the Republic of Moldova officially handed over to the European Union the first completed questionnaire, after submitting the application for intent to join the EU. The application for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union was signed by the President of the country, Maia Sandu, the President of the Parliament Igor Grosu and by the Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița on March 3.
The events took place after Ukraine and Georgia sent similar requests to Brussels. Subsequently, on April 11, the head of diplomacy in Chisinau, Nicu Popescu, received from the European Commission the questionnaire on the basis of which the degree of preparation of the Republic of Moldova for accession to the European Union is to be established.
