Moldova and Romania will have joint border control at Leuseni

The head of the Ministry of Interior from Chisinau, Ana Revenco, signed together with her counterpart from Bucharest, Lucian Bode, the Agreement on the coordinated control at the border crossing point Leușeni-Albita. The measure will apply upon entry into Romania.

The initiative aims to develop cooperative relations between the structures with attributions at the borders of the Republic of Moldova and Romania, in the field of integrated border management. Thus, the Agreement will contribute to ensuring national security, the economic well-being of both states, the prevention and fight against organized cross-border crime and international terrorism, notes the Ministry of the Interior from Chisinau.

“At the same time, it will serve as a solution to unblock the logistic supply chain, in the context of the crisis generated by the war in Ukraine,” the message sent by the authority states.

With the establishment of coordinated traffic control based on the “one-stop” principle, the crossing of the common border will be accelerated and facilitated. Therefore, the waiting time at the border crossing, including the transport of goods, will be reduced.
