Moldova’s autumn 2025 elections carry significant geopolitical weight, and authorities anticipate a surge in hybrid attacks to disrupt the country’s pro-European trajectory. Prime Minister Dorin Recean issued this warning in an interview with www.caleaeuropeană.ro, stressing that Moscow is already preparing alternative strategies to influence politics in Chișinău and derail Moldova’s European integration.
“Given the experience of last year’s electoral exercises – the referendum and presidential elections – we are prepared to face these hybrid attacks,” Recean said. “We expect them to escalate significantly because the stakes are much higher.”
According to caleaeuropeană.ro, the Moldovan government is gearing up to counter a wave of disinformation, cyberattacks, and external interference, with strong support from Western allies, particularly Romania. “It is very important for Romania to remain a stable and pro-European democracy so that we can support each other and advance together in the EU,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Recean reiterated Moldova’s unwavering strategic goal: full EU membership. “We are working so that by the end of this decade, specifically by 2028, we can sign the accession treaty with the European Union. It’s a highly ambitious deadline,” he stated.
The Prime Minister is currently on a working visit to Antalya, attending the fourth edition of the Diplomacy Forum at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The event, held April 11–13, brings together heads of state and government, ministers, and experts to discuss pressing regional and global issues.
