Moldova Expands Consular Network with New Consulates in Chicago and Sacramento

After years of anticipation, the Republic of Moldova’s flag flew at the newly inaugurated Consulate General in Chicago, USA. Speaker Igor Grosu, who attended the ceremony, hailed the moment as a major step forward for the Moldovan community.

“This consulate will become a second home for Moldovans living here. I was proud to see that, even thousands of kilometers away, our people thrive without forgetting their roots. Their unity, hard work, and engagement make us all proud,” Grosu said.

The Consulate General in Chicago, led by Anton Lungu, will offer essential services, including passport issuance and renewal, notarial and civil status documents, emergency assistance, and support for economic and cultural relations between Moldova and the USA.

“Fewer trips, more care for people. Our goal is to expand the consular network so that every Moldovan, regardless of where they live, can easily access the services they need,” Sandu stated.

With these openings, Moldova strengthens its ties with its diaspora, ensuring better support for its citizens abroad.
