Moldova is a “friendly” country, but used for anti-Russian purposes, says Sergey Lavrov. In the opinion of the Russian Foreign Minister, the government in Chisinau wants to take the state to the EU, NATO and unite with Romania.
The head of Russian diplomacy also claims that “Moscow would like to have good relations with Moldova”, according to TASS. The statements were made during a speech in the State Duma.

“The politicians who have now taken power in this country and who, by and large, have declared their desire to join the European Union, and are almost reuniting with Romania, or even asking NATO to provide them with security, these politicians still do not reflect the interests of the citizens there. The organization of early elections is requested, this is an internal matter of the Republic of Moldova, but we do not like that this friendly country is used for anti-Russian purposes”, said Lavrov.
This is not the first bizarre statement, regarding the Republic of Moldova, by the Russian minister. Earlier, in an interview, the official said the same things with reference to Maia Sandu, noting that the president wants the country to join NATO and unite with Romania.
